Maui is special place where people come to connect and experience each other in a way that can be difficult in the rhythm of everyday life. Many times I have the pleasure of photographing families with lots of people and little families with in the big families. This is always a fun kind of photography session for me because I get to see so much interaction and emotion. I love to observe how different people bring out different things in each other and when doing a photo shoot it makes it so fun and interesting!
Of course the big group shots are a must and these little ones did such a great job cuddling with their grandparents!
Leah and Dan with Joseph who turned out to be my big helper on the day of the photo session as well as little Francesca who happened to be turning 2 were fun and playful together. It was so cool to see how independent and sure of themselves the kids were at such a young age. It really is amazing how different every family is!
Doug and Kate were really calm and I wasn’t sure how they would like being in front of the camera at first. However, they ended up being so incredibly adorable and photogenic together that I could have spent the whole hour with them! They were still like newlyweds and it that’s just a great thing to be around and photograph!!
Katie and Ryan’s little family was really sweet and tender together. Jameson had such a sweet disposition and Maya was the ever curious older sister who helped along the way. Its of course fun to photograph cute energetic little one but I try to also spend a few minutes with in each session getting mom and dad together and getting some snuggle shots with them as well as many of us know how easy it is to get lost in the roles of parents!
One of the main reasons for doing this Maui photoshoot was that Joe was having a big birthday! ( I wont say which one 🙂 So the family came from their perspective places of the country to meet up and enjoy some celebratory time together! After photographing the other couples in this group I have no doubt that Joe and Ann trained their own kids well 🙂 They were perfectly perfect in front of the lens and it was such a pleasure to have been a part of this vacation for them!
At the end of our photography session we decided to head down to the beach and let the kids play! It is Maui after all and if theres and ocean mere feet away it the only acceptable thing to do:)
